WHY HERRICK?

As the Fall interviewing season quickly approaches, rest assured that every firm will tell you that it is different from its peers. Our summer associates tell us, based on their conversations with their classmates in programs at other firms, that our firm, and our summer program, are different, and in very positive ways.

Herrick, Feinstein, a vibrant, growing, mid-town firm of over 170 lawyers, offers bright, talented and ambitious new lawyers the opportunity to practice law in a unique environment. We would very much like to meet with you so that you can see for yourself that we offer is an experience, something that you just cannot and will not find at a much larger firm. Hands-on experience at an early stage in your career. By joining Herrick, Feinstein at the outset, you will get the training and experience necessary to become a first-rate lawyer, quickly begin to handle your own matters, actively participate in more complex cases and transactions, and become part of an institution dedicated to developing new lawyers and keeping them.

We find that too many law students still abide by the archaic notion that they can go to a large firm, get all the experience they need, and then set their own terms when, inevitably, they have to leave. However, their lack of experience and training, and the fact that there are just not that many mid-sized firms, combine to make it very difficult for laterals to find new meaningful positions.

And to attract the best students, we have pioneered an innovative associate compensation system.  We have done away with the traditional lock-step method of associate promotion so that there is no limit to the pace at which associates can advance in the firm. We also have a merit bonus program available to all associates.  Thus, new lawyers will be able to reap all of the advantages of working at a mid-sized firm without making a substantial economic sacrifice.

Herrick, Feinstein  has established traditional practice areas in Litigation, Real Estate, Corporate, Bankruptcy and Workouts, Commercial Lending, Taxation and Trusts and Estates and, at the same time, has developed a diverse and exciting practice in cutting edge disciplines such as Art Law, Sports and Entertainment, Business Divorce, Environmental Law, Land Use, Intellectual Property, White Collar Crime, Securities Law and  Employment Law. Besides our main office in Manhattan, we have northeast regional offices in Princeton and Newark, New Jersey.

If you have proven academic credentials and an intense desire to learn how to be the best lawyer you can be, and want to find a home rather than just a first job, we look forward to meeting you!
